Job Description – Maritime and Offshore Engineering

We have an opportunity for driven and ambitious students looking to gain practical experience within our maritime and offshore team, who are pioneering the use of digital innovation in ports, coastal and offshore infrastructure. Join our experts and you’ll be involved in the planning, civil and structural engineering, and construction supervising of all types of maritime projects. Our projects are in the UK and overseas, and include port systems, coastal erosion and climate change protection, renewables cable networks, and tidal power schemes.

Our industrial placement opportunities are for 10 to 12 months and carried out during a year out from university, or after completion of a bachelor’s, and before enrolling onto a postgraduate course. Our company operates in a wide range of sectors, providing a unique chance for you to engage in projects that align with your academic interests and career goals.

You’ll be working with graduates, experienced professionals, and other students, so placement with us is the perfect opportunity to learn from a variety of people while understanding our values and culture. It’s also a great chance to get involved with real projects while gaining relevant experience.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

To join us for an industrial placement, you must currently be enrolled on a Civil or Structural Engineering degree course at University and have the following characteristics:

  • A methodical approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, which allow you to confidently liaise with clients and team members
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail with the ability to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing
