Overview
In this role you will lead commissioning strategy for process plants within a large water framework, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, quality-focused delivery. You’ll oversee FAT/SAT, witness testing and client meetings, while coordinating with subcontractors and maintaining rigorous safety and QA standards. You’ll drive commissioning of electrical assets and mentor junior engineers and apprentices. This position offers development within a growing Welsh Water framework and the chance to shape asset readiness across multiple sites.

Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver commissioning strategy for process plant, including sequencing, FAT/SAT oversight, witness testing and client-facing commissioning meetings
- Support pre-construction through surveys, asset data collection and coordinating commissioning deliverables with subcontractors
- Manage construction-phase activities such as outage/takeover planning, programme management, maintenance and client liaison
- Produce and review RAMS, maintain strong process/COSHH safety standards and drive QA through ITPs, acceptance documents, training materials and completion records
- Lead the commissioning of electrical assets (sampling, functional testing, I/O, distribution and MCCs) and ensure projects are completed to “As Constructed” status
- Mentor Apprentices and Graduate Electrical Engineers while delivering all commissioning plan outputs
Key requirements
- CSCS and SSSTS
- HNC / Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Understand civil engineering principles and MEICA construction
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
