We have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, tackling projects across the DCC region covering both clean and wastewater treatment sites, as well as below ground assets, reservoirs and nature-based solutions.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, Mott MacDonald Bentley provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You’ll work on projects that make a real difference by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the mechanical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all mechanical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The Role Of a Senior Mechanical Engineer Includes:

  • Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects through the outline and detailed design, construction, commissioning, and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, defining safe access and lifting arrangements, above ground pipework layouts, etc.
  • Coordinate with the project team comprising Electrical, Civil, Geotech and Process designers and ensure designs are completed on programme, within budget, and to the quality defined by framework specifications.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
  • Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to support them in achieving their aims.
  • Support the development of the mechanical engineering team, coaching and mentoring engineers to develop their skill set and identifying the correct resource for the projects.

What You’ll Need:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Chartered or incorporated member of professional institution e.g. ICE, IMechE, etc., or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Methodical approach to problem solving.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region.
