You will work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the structural functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all civil aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Preparing and reviewing designs for schemes and ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
- Preparing detailed structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Conducting site inspections and assessing existing structures for repair and/or replacement.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
- Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of Client and industry standards.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
- Managing the interfaces and integration of the design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation.
- Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
- Supervising and mentoring our Graduates and Engineers assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Positively engage with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one-team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Chartered member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water, or wastewater, non-infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of relevant design codes and standards (e.g. Eurocodes, British Standards).
- Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g. Staad Pro, ETABS, SAP2000).
- Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- A proactive and pragmatic approach.
- Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing your time efficiently.
- A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
