We are a fully integrated design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley. With an annual turnover surpassing £500 million, we are an industry leader delivering award‑winning projects across the UK water market. We have secured a framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, enabling us to tackle projects across the DCC region, including water and wastewater treatment sites, below‑ground assets, reservoirs and nature‑based solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment, including Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA. Systems will be both new and legacy installations.
- Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement, reviewing tender bids and technical submissions.
- Applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of client and industry standards.
- Challenging client specifications, presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
- Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes, including developing and implementing standard designs, sustainable solutions and digital tools.
- Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews across teams.
- Managing interfaces and integration of designs with other disciplines and producing documentation.
- Seeking input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve solutions.
- Collaborating with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop safe and practical solutions throughout design and construction.
- Supervising and mentoring graduate and junior engineers.
- Engaging positively with client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach.
- Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Chartered or integrated member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
- Experience with water, wastewater, non‑infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
- Experience delivering high‑quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
- Strong communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
- Methodical problem‑solving approach.
- Proactive and pragmatic attitude.
- Ability to deliver results within short timeframes, prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
