Composites is where we bring the car to life and shape the future of our performance. Our technicians work with advanced carbon fibre to build and assemble key components – from the chassis to wings and impact structures. Every piece is crafted to exact specs for strength, safety, and speed. With ~85% of an F1 car being made from carbon fibre, Composites is fundamental to delivering lightweight precision and race‑ready reliability – turning innovation into performance.
The Composites Apprentice role is a structured rotational program designed to launch your career in advanced motorsport manufacturing. You will develop expert‑level technical skills across our bespoke training facility and world‑class composites department, contributing directly to the production of high‑performance F1 components.
You will gain hands‑on experience in the entire composite lifecycle, including laminating, mould manufacturing, trimming, bonding, and assembly. Crucially, you will attend the Engineering Trust one day per week for 36 months to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. This role provides a unique opportunity to build a successful career, supported by experienced mentors, within the high‑speed environment of motorsport engineering.
Shape the Future
You are expected to be eager to learn, quickly adapting to industry standards and best practices. You should proactively use continuous structured support, including regular performance evaluations with the Training Officer, to improve your professional and personal development.
You possess a keen attention to detail and a strong bias towards practical working, ensuring the highest quality in all F1 components you manufacture. You encourage positive relationships and a spirit of teamwork across departments, communicating calmly and constructively, and are professional and polite to all colleagues and visitors.
Make Real Impact
You will apply your growing technical skills to manufacture current F1 car components, progressing from core processes in Year 1 to manufacturing Class ‘A’ components independently in Year 4. You will become competent across essential disciplines, including laminating, mould manufacturing, core fitting, trimming, surface preparation, bonding, and ply‑book manufacture.
You will maintain the high standard of the department’s presentation and are responsible for complying with all health and safety obligations, including the correct wearing of PPE and promptly reporting any incidents or hazards.
Find Your Place
You must be 18 years of age at the commencement of the apprenticeship. You have good communication, organisational skills, and a keen interest in engineering. You must show examples of effective team working, be creative, and thrive in an environment where practical skills are paramount. You will graduate with a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Automotive Engineering Pathway QAUH: Motorsport Composite Manufacture.
