We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in cloud technologies, infrastructure design, and implementation to join the team. You will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure solutions while streamlining operations, improving scalability, and optimizing costs. Working from within the infrastructure team and tightly with team members from Engineering Acceleration on DevOps and platform projects.
Responsibilities
- Cloud Architecture
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient cloud environments across public, private, and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and provide cloud solutions.
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand their requirements for a cloud solution.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform preferred) to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.
- Implement best practices for version control and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Cloud Platforms
- Work with major cloud service providers: Azure and AWS, to deploy and manage cloud-based solutions.
- Stay abreast of the latest cloud technologies and recommend improvements to enhance system performance and efficiency.
- Security and Compliance
- Implement security best practices to safeguard cloud environments.
- Manage access controls, encryption, and security monitoring.
- Monitoring and Optimisation
- Set up monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues.
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost efficiency and performance.
- Collaboration and Support
- Collaborate with platform and operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
- Document configurations, procedures, and best practices.
- Share knowledge and experience to upskill the wider team and business.
- Stay up to date on emerging technology trends and promote the use of cloud services throughout the business.
Skills and experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role using AWS and Azure.
- Experience implementing Cloud Management Platforms.
- Foundational infrastructure knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of IaC tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).
- Hands-on experience of managing Windows and Linux workloads.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect).
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud strategies.
- Knowledge of cost optimisation strategies in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Availability for on-call support as needed.
