We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Simulation & Modelling Engineer. In this role you will be responsible for the development, improvement and conduction of vehicle performance simulation, correlation, analysis and optimization methodologies & projects, related to race weekends performance optimization. You will also be involved in longer term vehicle development activities, in collaboration with all Vehicle Performance groups.

  • Driver in the Loop Simulator
  • Contribution to the DiL Simulator activity as part of the simulator engineers’ pool.
  • Contribution to the development and running of simulation- and data-driven race car setup and characterization methodologies.
  • Regular participation to DiL simulator sessions to organize sessions’ run plan according to Vehicle Performance engineers’ test items requests, manage the car simulation and extract results from the test items, including during race weekends.
  • Post-sessions test items results analysis work (including car performance and simulation correlation aspects), in collaboration with vehicle performance areas experts.
  • Participation to the development of the Simulator activity though proposal, definition and execution of improvement projects.
  • Planning and execution of such simulation and analysis methodologies according to the car development cycle and race & test calendar (car development and Pre-/ in-/ Post-Event work).
  • Maintain documentation for the methodologies and projects under the roles’ ownership.
  • Establish and contribute to performance-related working groups with the other Vehicle Performance groups.
  • Ensure that the main DiL activity has the required robustness, visibility, clarity in the department to make the most out of the tool.
  • Ensure that engineering tools and methodologies placed under the role’s ownership reach the expected level of quality and integrate coherently with the rest of the VPG Toolset and related guidelines.
  • Vehicle Performance Innovation
  • Exploration & development of novel simulation- and data-driven methodologies in the field of vehicle performance.
  • Simulation and car performance analysis methodologies improvement proposals and implementation, in collaboration with the various fields’ experts of the Vehicle Performance Group.
  • Professionalism
  • Participation to Race and Tests Events support activities from VCARB’s Operation Room and the Driver in the Loop simulator.
  • Maintain a proactive and positive attitude while working on assigned tasks, ensuring efficient delivery within deadlines.

Experience

  • Degree in an Engineering Discipline (engineering, maths, physics, etc.).
  • Former relevant experience in a similar role, ideally in motorsport.
  • Knowledge of numerical simulation techniques.
  • Knowledge of vehicle dynamics & modelling and vehicle performance contributors.
  • Knowledge of DiL simulations solutions.
  • Experience using Adams, Dymola or other Modelica-based modelling tools. Matlab/Simulink would be considered beneficial.
  • Experience in programming for engineering applications (for instance Matlab, Python, C#, Java, etc.) would be considered beneficial.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis tools and methodologies would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent communicative and collaborative skills are essential.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proven ability to work under pressure, with a minimum of supervision, to the highest levels of accuracy and quality.
  • A flexible approach to working hours is essential, together with a very good knowledge of English.
