Purpose of the Role
To support the Freight Operations and Service team in the effective storage, delivery, servicing, set up, pack down, and presentation of the garage environment, support equipment, and parts at events and storage facilities. The role is designed to provide hands-on experience and training across all freight operations (road, air, sea). The trainee will be expected to show flexibility, a willingness to learn, and support security duties.
Principal Accountabilities
- Facilitate the effective and efficient storage and servicing of assets and infrastructure on non-travel weeks typically in a warehouse environment.
- Safely and accurately set up and pack down infrastructure at events including but not limited to race weekends.
- Assist with hands-on mechanical/electrical/IT tasks under supervision.
- Participate in structured hands-on training across freight disciplines.
- Support security and IP protection duties.
- Operate machinery (e.g., forklifts) and hand tools after training.
- Carry out inspections of PPE and Supporting Equipment, ensuring compliance.
- Follow instructions and absorb technical knowledge.
- Be a team player contributing to the overall success of any project, task or activity.
Role Dimensions
- Role has a home base at a McLaren facility in Woking, as well as work undertaken on-site at events.
- Works across race team support crew, freight operations, and security.
- Extensive travel and unsociable hours required.
- Hours to be worked as and when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Basic understanding of technical environments β e.g. worked within a warehouse, factory, garage, trades environment.
- Willingness to learn and develop practical skills
- Ability to contribute to fault diagnosis process
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Ability to drive manual vehicles and obey international road laws
