General Summary: This role reports to the Lead Systems Engineer or their designee and is based in Banbury, UK. The role supports the delivery and contribution of departmental and organisational objectives. Responsible for supporting day-to-day operations within their area of responsibility, working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure high standards of service, compliance, and performance. Adherence to organisational policies and procedures, effective communication with line management, and a commitment to continuous improvement and inclusive ways of working is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support from the Race Support Room to the Systems Engineers during race and test events, particularly facilitating interactions with other remote/factory-based operations.
  • Compile pre-event information/declarations.
  • Maintain sensor calibration information, liaising with internal test and inspection engineers or external suppliers.
  • Contribute to lifing on-car systems components, participate in discussions on rotation of components to best use available life.
  • Work closely with Software Engineering department to maintain/configure off-car software systems such as ADS and VTAG.
  • Provide data access support to remote/factory-based operations, such as assisting with telemetry configurations or availability of data on the network.
  • Work alongside race team and Heritage Systems Engineers to develop knowledge of operating a car in the trackside environment.
  • Dealing with ad hoc requests from other departments for information or assistance relating to systems engineering matters.
  • Monitor on-car electronics systems through live and logged telemetry data, coordinating with on-car Systems Engineer when issues occur.
  • Complete post event analysis tasks such as investigating faults.
  • Contribute to software tool development.
  • Apply appropriate knowledge, skills, and judgement within defined responsibilities.
  • Follow established processes, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Work effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Identify and elevate risks, issues, or non-compliance appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports relevant to the role.

Person Specification:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline such as electrical, automotive or motorsport.
  • Prior experience in a similar role in a motorsport environment (preferably Formula 1).

Equipment and Applications:

  • Experience with automotive ECUs and data logging systems essential.
  • Experience Motion Applied (MA) TAG ECUs and/or associated tool suite highly advantageous.
  • Experience with CAN diagnostic equipment such as PeakCAN or CANalyzer advantageous.
  • Strong computer literacy, with high competency in Microsoft Office essential.
  • Experience with a programming language such as python, MATLAB, VBA, C# highly advantageous.

Physical Demands:

Travel Requirements:

  • This role is based in a shared workplace environment where exposure to common allergens (including food products, fragrances and cleaning materials) may occur.

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • All roles require adherence to strict safety protocols, especially in technical and trackside environments.
  • Completion of all mandatory compliance training (including health and safety, data protection, and role-specific regulatory training) is a condition of employment and must be maintained throughout tenure.
