Role Overview

We are looking for an accomplished and experienced Senior Sales Manager to play a central role in the sale and management of Formula 1’s core media rights. Reporting to the Director of Media Rights, you will operate within a market‑by‑market sales model to deliver exceptional sales processes, negotiate high‑value media rights agreements, and secure optimum commercial outcomes. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams including legal, finance, broadcast services, engineering, and account management, to help shape the strategic direction of the Formula 1 media rights team. This is a senior, high‑impact role at the heart of the world’s most prestigious motorsport series.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead media rights sales processes for F1, F2, F3, F1 Academy, and the Porsche Supercup series for assigned markets.
  • Manage end‑to‑end sales processes, including the creation of sales materials, handling bids, and negotiating licence agreements in close collaboration with Formula 1’s in‑house legal and finance teams.
  • Overall responsibility for F1 support events from a media rights perspective, working closely with the account management leads for each of the support events.
  • Department lead for broadcast feed delivery and incident management, working with F1’s third‑party distribution partner and F1’s internal technical teams.
  • Lead and support ad‑hoc strategic projects across the media rights department.
  • Accountability for key financial targets in your allocated markets in line with budget expectations.
  • Manage existing broadcaster relationships, while identifying, evaluating, and executing new distribution opportunities.
  • Identify new business opportunities across the wider media landscape and establish strategic partnerships.
  • Providing expert internal advice on media rights‑related matters.
  • Ensure clear, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider F1 media rights team to ensure aligned strategies across territories.

What Are We Looking For?

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of global media distribution business models.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to navigate complex, long‑form commercial agreements.
  • Ability to interpret analytics, financial forecasts and excel‑based modelling.
  • Strategic and detail‑oriented mindset with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Strong presentation skills, capable of conveying information concisely and precisely.
  • Clear communication skills, particularly when working with cross‑functional teams.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and consistency in all tasks.
  • Confidence working within legal and contractual frameworks.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in media rights sales roles within the sports, entertainment, or broadcast sectors.
  • A proven track record of negotiating and closing substantial media rights deals on a global scale.
  • Experience managing broadcaster or distribution relationships.
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑pressure commercial environments.
  • Experience balancing multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining accuracy and quality.

Some desirable experience that you may bring to the role:

  • Knowledge or experience of Formula 1 as a media property.
  • Experience working within international markets.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience in business, media, commercial management, or a related field.

Personal Qualities

We value determination, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively under pressure. The right person will bring a commercial mindset, an established network of contacts across the sports media rights industry, and the ability to identify and shape long‑term partnerships. You should be confident, resilient, and comfortable navigating contractual complexity while contributing to the ongoing evolution of Formula 1’s global media strategy. In this role it is essential that you are:

  • Self‑motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple commercial priorities.
  • Realistic, adaptable and calm under pressure – particularly during intense negotiation periods or tight timelines.
  • A strong communicator, able to represent Formula 1 professionally and effectively to global partners.
  • Collaborative, with a commitment to working closely with internal stakeholders to achieve shared objectives.
