As a CFD Methodology Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of translating cutting‑edge simulations into real‑world aerodynamic performance. You’ll push the boundaries of numerical methods, fine‑tune turbulence models, and elevate solver accuracy – ensuring virtual results mirror what happens in the wind tunnel and on track.
Your work will shape the way the car is designed, how efficiently it slices through the air, and how race strategies are executed – playing a crucial part in keeping Red Bull Racing ahead of the competition.
Responsibilities
- Align CFD simulations with wind tunnel and on‑track data to improve accuracy.
- Refine turbulence models and solver techniques for more reliable aerodynamic predictions.
- Collaborate with aerodynamicists and race engineers to interpret and apply correlation insights.
- Enhance modelling fidelity and efficiency through vehicle analysis and HPC‑driven workflows.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in CFD, Aerodynamics, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Mathematics, with strong solver experience.
- Deep knowledge of turbulence modelling, boundary layers, and numerical methods, with correlation to wind tunnel and track data.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and Linux for automation, post‑processing, and efficient workflows.
- Experience with HPC environments, parallel CFD, and high‑performance simulation in fast‑paced settings.
- Desirable: motorsport aero experience, model calibration, adjoint optimisation, and exposure to ML or aeroelastic simulations.
