We are a well established mail order business with over 24 years of experience supplying performance car parts to retail and trade customers worldwide. As a fast growing company, we have recently expanded our operations with the launch of a European company and distribution centre and new UK workshop facilities. We run a fleet of highly modified road, track and race cars to assist with marketing and product development.
Recent expansion to our workshop and track activities means we are looking for a skilled and experienced Race Mechanic. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles including modified road, track and race cars. This includes transporting and supporting track and race cars at various UK and European circuits. You will only be dealing with company vehicles, not retail.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain work vehicles, trailers, and company road and race cars.
- Help modify/build performance cars.
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs and adjustments.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and repairs undertaken.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with the development of new coilover kits.
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and safe at all times.
- Provide race support at track days and race events.
- Prep cars prior to events.
- Load cars onto trailer and vans with event equipment.
- Drive/tow vehicles to events.
- Set up garages at events.
- Run cars at events.
- Pack up at the end of an event.
- Transport vehicles back to unit and unload everything.
- Post event checks/maintenance and repair of vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a race mechanic or in a similar role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of various machinery systems.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools effectively.
- Ability to read technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in mechanical engineering or maintenance are desirable but not essential.
- Experience of highly modified cars is desired.
- Race car experience is desirable.
- Experience of working with drivers/instructors desirable.
- Towing experience desired but not essential as training can be given.
- Must be over 25 and have a clean licence.
- You will be required to work weekends.
