Operating at the highest levels of international motorsport, M-Sport UK delivers championship-winning programmes across the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally-Raid, GT racing and a variety of global customer racing activities. We are looking to recruit a skilled and motivated Damper Technician to join our Hydraulics Department at our Dovenby Hall headquarters. This role plays a key part in the build, servicing, maintenance and development of high-performance suspension systems that contribute directly to the performance, reliability and success of our competition vehicles.

Working closely with Engineers, Technicians and Production teams, you will help ensure our dampers and hydraulic components are prepared to the highest standards for testing, development and competition use. The role responsibilities include:

  • Damper Assembly & Servicing: Build, service and maintain dampers and associated suspension components to exacting standards.
  • Inspection & Rebuild: Strip, inspect and rebuild dampers, identifying wear, damage and opportunities for improvement.
  • Quality Control: Carry out detailed component measurements, inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Competition Preparation: Prepare dampers and hydraulic assemblies for testing, development activities and competition events.
  • Development Support: Assist with suspension development programmes, testing activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation & Traceability: Maintain accurate service records, build documentation and component tracking systems.
  • Workshop Standards: Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Engineers, Production and Workshop teams to support vehicle build and development programmes.

  • Mechanical Understanding: Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, suspension systems, hydraulics or precision engineering principles.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering work to the highest standards.
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable working with precision components, measurements and technical procedures.
  • Time Management: Ability to multitask, prioritise workloads and work effectively within a time-sensitive environment.
  • Problem Solving: Practical and methodical approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Quality Focus: Strong commitment to accuracy, consistency and continuous improvement.

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working with hydraulic systems, dampers, suspension components or similar precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience within motorsport, performance automotive, automotive OEM, aerospace or other high-performance engineering environments would be advantageous.
