Atlassian Williams F1 Team is transforming in all areas in pursuit of its mission to win multiple F1 World Championships, and is investing in what it takes to win. The Commercial and Marketing team has three objectives: to grow revenue, grow the brand and grow the fanbase. As Communications Executive you will be a key member of the Communications team, supporting our motorsport, Corporate and Internal Communications output.
You will have overall responsibility for media monitoring, reporting and evaluation – vital to providing strategic insight for the rest of the team. You will be highly‑organised, helping to manage the team’s resources through effective working with Finance, Procurement and external suppliers, and maintaining an overall calendar of communications activity to maximise impact. This is an entry level role in our team and does not include race travel, but offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the turnaround of an iconic Formula 1 team.
Main Duties:
- Work with the Head of Communications and the rest of the communications team to design and deliver communications strategies and activity that increase awareness and consideration of Atlassian Williams F1 Team among target F1 fan audiences.
- Responsibility for daily media monitoring, ensuring the team has a clear and digestible understanding of coverage and any action that needs to be taken.
- Responsibility for evaluation of communications activity – both specific announcements or activations and quarterly evaluation of overall activity. This involved producing clear reports for use at Board and C‑suite level and right throughout the organisation.
- Responsibility for maintaining and managing media databases and image banks, ensuring the team can land effective coverage with the outlets and journalists that matter.
- Prepare race weekend previews and end‑of‑day press release templates to support the trackside communications teams.
- Prepare and distribute press releases and announcements.
- Oversee a calendar of communications activity across the team, gathering information to ensure maximum impact for all activity and helping everyone have a clear picture of activity and prioritisation.
- Be the lead point of contact for our Test and Simulation Drivers, working closely with the driver and simulation teams on communications activity where appropriate.
- Work with teams across the business including Finance, Procurement, Legal and external suppliers to effectively manage the team’s resources and ensure prompt payments.
- Supporting and assisting with day‑to‑day management of proactive and reactive communications activations, helping to provide a leading media service for the team that ensures maximum positive coverage across all platforms.
- Support the Communications Officer on communications activity around our presence at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and Show Car run programme.
- Media relations: point of contact for press office enquiries, requests for digital assets, chaperoning journalists, TV crews and photographers where required, reporting on interviews (print, audio and film), assistance with media events and announcements.
- Support the team in delivering major team events such as season launch and Williams’ 50th anniversary in 2027.
Core Competencies:
- Media monitoring, evaluation and reporting: Proven ability to lead media monitoring, evaluation and reporting – drawing out insights to improve communication activity.
- Media relations: Proven experience of managing media databases, asset banks, communications calendars and dealing with journalists on a day‑to‑day basis to respond to their requests.
- Stakeholder engagement and teamwork: Comfortable building relationships with key stakeholders across different functional teams and across and outside the organisation, working seamlessly in cross‑functional teams to deliver successful outcomes.
- Content development and messaging: Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple formats (press releases, social content, reports etc).
- Calm under pressure and exceptional organisation: Proven experience of being comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment managing multiple projects at the same time under significant time pressure.
- Motorsport expertise: Deep understanding of and passion for Formula 1.
- Content development and messaging: Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills across multiple formats (press releases, social content, reports etc). Expertise in crafting messages and tailoring them for diverse audiences.
Qualifications and Experience Level:
- Minimum two years’ experience in communications roles, either in house or in communications agency. Experience in sport or motorsport would be beneficial but not essential.
- Full driving licence essential.
- Second and subsequent language proficiency beneficial but not essential.
