About the Role:
As a DevOps Engineer Apprentice, you’ll join our Enterprise Technology group in the Platform team to help build, automate, and operate the hybrid‑cloud and on‑premises systems that support our foundational computer, storage and other fundamental workloads that support the Team. You’ll work hands‑on across our datacentres and cloud platforms, contributing to code, automation, infrastructure reliability, and continuous improvement in a fast‑paced engineering environment.

- Hybrid Cloud and Automation: Provision and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, APIs, and automation tools across on‑prem and cloud environments. Contribute to deployment pipelines, environment builds, and platform operations.
- Containers and CI/CD: Work with Kubernetes and containerised services, supporting build, release, and CI/CD workflows. Use Linux tooling and standard DevOps practices to deploy and operate workloads.
- Reliability and Monitoring: Implement and maintain monitoring and logging systems, ensuring alerts are actionable and performance issues are visible. Diagnose infrastructure and application issues across full end‑to‑end systems.
- Security and Governance: Apply secure‑by‑design principles, vulnerability identification, dependency management, and configuration hardening. Support security tooling across both cloud and on‑prem environments.
- Teamwork and Ways of Working: Work as part of an Agile team, contributing to stand‑ups, planning, and continuous improvement. Participate in pair programming and peer review. Support knowledge‑sharing through documentation, whiteboarding, and show‑and‑tell sessions. Commit to continual learning throughout the apprenticeship.
During this apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to work with industry leading infrastructure, storage, virtualisation and containerisation technologies in on‑site datacentres and around the world.

Good problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Able to work independently and as part of a high‑performing team. Flexible, proactive, and comfortable working to tight deadlines.
- Desirable: Basic understanding of scripting/programming. Familiarity with Linux, networking, or virtualisation. Relevant certifications or experience. Studying toward a technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.).
Skills You Will Develop:
- Infrastructure automation and scripting
- CI/CD engineering and release processes
- Kubernetes and container orchestration
- Hybrid‑cloud provisioning and Infrastructure as Code
- Monitoring, observability and incident troubleshooting
- Security fundamentals and secure configuration
- Agile delivery, collaboration, and continuous improvement
