Role Overview
The Senior Transformation Manager will play a key role in turning Formula 1’s strategic priorities into deliverable programmes with clear outcomes, disciplined execution and measurable benefits.
Working within the central Strategy & Transformation team and reporting to the Head of Transformation, the role will manage the delivery of complex cross-functional initiatives, shaping scope and business cases, building robust plans, managing risks and dependencies, and keeping progress visible through to execution.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Project and Programme Management
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects and programmes from initiation through delivery, managing scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions and benefits.
- Establish clear governance, delivery plans, reporting rhythms and escalation routes for the projects and programmes they lead.
- Work with senior sponsors, business teams, IT Delivery, Digital Delivery and PMO to maintain alignment, momentum and accountability.
- Manage trade-offs across timeline, capacity, cost, risk and business value, escalating decisions where required.
- Initiative Shaping and Business Cases
- Own the assessment and shaping of transformation initiatives, defining requirements, expected outcomes, strategic fit and delivery options.
- Lead the development of business case inputs, including scope, benefits, cost assumptions, delivery approach, risks, dependencies and capacity requirements.
- Define high-level milestone plans, decision points and readiness criteria before initiatives move into delivery.
- Prepare clear analysis, recommendations and decision materials to support prioritisation, approval and mobilisation.
- Monitoring and Reporting
- Monitor major transformation activity across the central transformation agenda, tracking progress against Formula 1’s long-term strategy and agreed business priorities.
- Produce regular reporting on delivery status, risks, decisions required, dependencies, benefits and capacity constraints, highlighting areas requiring intervention.
- Track whether initiatives are delivering intended outcomes and highlight where plans, benefits or priorities may require course correction.
- Provide clear, consistent insight to support senior leadership decision-making across the transformation agenda.
- Governance and Ways of Working
- Support the development and adoption of proportionate governance, reporting standards, decision routes and delivery expectations across transformation activity.
- Work with PMO, IT Delivery and Digital Delivery to align ways of working and improve joined-up planning, prioritisation, escalation and benefits tracking.
- Help ensure initiatives have clear ownership, accountable sponsors, defined success measures and proportionate controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve delivery discipline, transparency and accountability across major business initiatives.
What Are We Looking For?
Qualifications
- Project and programme management or change delivery qualification desirable, such as PRINCE2, MSP, PMP or Agile.
- Bachelor’s degree level education.
Experience
- Significant experience managing complex multi-department projects and programmes – experience within regulated operational environments desirable.
- Experience shaping project design and business cases, including scope, outcomes, costs, capacity requirements, strategic fit and delivery approach.
- Corporate strategy, management consulting or similar experience desirable, with the ability to connect delivery activity to wider company priorities.
- Experience producing clear reporting and senior-level updates that support decision-making, escalation and visibility of progress.
- Knowledge & Skills
- Strong project and programme management skills, with the ability to bring structure, pace and control to complex work.
- Ability to translate strategic priorities into clear plans, milestones, success measures and practical next steps.
