Ford Credit's Manchester Business Centre is looking for an exceptional Financial Underwriting Team Leader to inspire and guide a high-performing team. This isn’t just about managing tasks; it’s about empowering individuals, optimizing processes, and ensuring our dealers and sales teams receive unparalleled support. Responsibilities

  • Lead Operational Excellence: Oversee the review and approval of new customer proposals, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex queries from dealers and sales teams, resolving issues with expertise. Strategically manage team resources to consistently meet and exceed departmental objectives. Champion quality, identifying opportunities for improvement and sharing best practices across all daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics.
  • Empower & Develop Your Team: Nurture and coach team members to achieve their full potential, supporting their underwriting levels and professional growth. Take ownership of all aspects of people management, including performance, development needs, absence, and onboarding, fostering a supportive and high-achieving environment. Conduct regular 1-2-1s, check-ins, and team meetings that truly engage and motivate. Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements, building a positive and rewarding atmosphere.
  • Drive Performance & Strategic Growth: Set clear, inspiring team and individual goals that align with broader departmental objectives. Utilize performance data (TCE, Underwriting reviews, PPRM Stats) to identify key insights and drive targeted improvements. Ensure timely and impactful appraisals, interim reviews, and continuous coaching to enhance capabilities. Actively pursue your own professional development, including achieving higher underwriting levels, setting an example for your team.
  • Ensure Robust Controls & Continuous Improvement: Maintain the highest standards of compliance and operational integrity, ensuring all control measures, procedures, and approval authorities are meticulously followed. Actively participate in the evolution of our processes, contributing to working instruction updates, quality control, and change management initiatives. Champion a culture of innovation, encouraging process improvement suggestions from your team and supporting their implementation. Collaborate cross-departmentally to resolve issues and optimize workflows, providing support and sharing resources as needed.
