The Opportunity
A fabulous opportunity for a Graduate Design Engineer with focus on mechanical design to join the small yet growing, dedicated and talented team at Lola as we embark on the next phase of the adventure. The Graduate Engineer will primarily support design activities across the business, contributing to the production of excellent cars and becoming an integral member of the team.
Role Responsibilities
- Supporting Design Team Leader with design activities (for example, designing car component such as structural brackets, suspension members, space frames, composite structures, tooling, various jigs and fixtures, etc).
- Developing and detailing existing design schemes, tolerancing components and releasing to manufacture.
- Creating, checking, releasing and revising technical documentation such as drawings, diagrams, schemes and so on.
- Reverse engineering components into CAD ensuring geometrical quality and accuracy.
- Supporting tasks such as car mass tracking, car build, assembly activities, etc.
- Ensuring all design and technical documentation is saved in a disciplined, well organised manner.
- Maintaining, revising existing kinematic models and using them for design.
Technical Skills required
- Proficiency in CAD software, ideally CATIA V5 or 3D Experience, and associated engineering tools.
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, ideally with experience of application.
- Knowledge of Engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Basic CAD surfacing skills would be an advantage.
Skills required
- Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Strong problem solving skills and proactive attitude.
- Well organised, with strong time management abilities.
- Ability to present ideas clearly and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience required
- Strong Engineering degree (2:1 or 1st), preferably MEng/BEng.
- Experience within Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace or other performance-focussed organisation is advantageous.
Role Location & Hours
The role will be based at the Silverstone, Lola Facility with the potential for some flexibility for remote working.
