The Guardian team provides a call‑taking and dispatching platform for emergency service operators across the UK & Europe, enabling 999 or 112 operators to answer calls from the public and dispatch responders efficiently.

Job Description

This is a remote Software Engineer role with occasional travel to UK offices. Working as part of an agile delivery team, you will collaborate with developers, Product Managers, and Software Test Engineers to design, develop, document, and test mission‑critical software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain frontend systems in ReactJS / TypeScript.
  • Write high‑quality, maintainable code in C# .NET backend.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and architectural discussions.
  • Prepare technical documentation and support detailed unit and integration testing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to diagnose and resolve issues.

Basic Requirements

  • Experience building frontend systems in JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of SOLID and modern software principles.
  • Experience with agile processes, Git, and pull requests.
  • Ability to attain NPPV3 and SC clearance (resident of the UK for ≥5 years).

Academic and Technical Qualifications

  • Formal degree (or equivalent) in Computing Science or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
