Guardian Integrated Communications Control System (ICCS) provides the backbone for emergency response in the UK & Europe. Our applications help 999 operators respond to calls from the public and dispatch out nearby responders, enabling the right response when every second counts. As our solution has grown from a small startup to one of the leading offerings for Fire & Police agencies, our customers now trust us to solve more of their problems. We are building new products to increase the safety and efficiency of emergency response agencies, and ultimately to help our customers save lives.

This role is primarily remote with occasional travel to our Glasgow offices. You will need to be able to obtain NPPV3 security clearance. The role of the Software Engineer is to work as part of an agile engineering team to design and develop the software solutions. You will work closely with the other members of the development team, the Product Owner, and the Software Test Engineers. You'll be developing mission critical or supporting software to a high standard, including design, development, technical documentation, and testing, while taking into account product’s efficiency and speed. This role is for a Back End developer. Our solution is written in C# & .NET (both .NET and .NET Framework) with Angular on the UI side and Entity Framework to handle database operations.

Basic Requirements

  • Has experience as a Software Developer or significant experience as a Junior Software Developer
  • Has experience building backend systems using C# language & .NET platform
  • Is passionate about writing high-quality code
  • Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understands modern software development practices and principles, such as SOLID
  • Understands modern development workflows, including agile process, Git repositories, pull requests
  • Is self-driven, learns new skills quickly and can switch between tasks easily

Core Competencies:

  • 3+ years of hands-on software development using C#
  • Solid understanding of OOP, design patterns and software engineering principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication and collaboration skills

Academic and Technical Qualifications:

  • You must either have NPPV3 clearance, or be willing to be cleared to this standard, which will involve background checks of you and potentially your family and requires at least 3+ years UK residency
  • A formal qualification (Degree) in Computing Science or equivalent experience

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • UK Police Control Room experience / knowledge
  • ASP.NET, Web API, Entity Framework, SignalR, WCF, WinForms knowledge
