About the role
- The role plays a key role in translating strategic data objectives into actionable delivery outcomes across the Data Strategy portfolio.
The role combines delivery leadership, analytical insight and strategic coordination to ensure initiatives deliver measurable business value.
- Working closely with the Strategy Delivery Lead and senior stakeholders, the role is responsible for analysing complex information, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and applying independent judgement to support decision-making.
The role supports strategic prioritisation, challenges assumptions through evidence-based insights, and ensures initiatives remain aligned to organisational objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Delivery & Execution
- Support Delivery Lead in the execution of Data projects and programmes, taking ownership of defined tasks or smaller workstreams.
- Translate strategic goals into delivery plans, milestones and actionable outcomes, ensuring delivery remains focused on business value.
- Drive momentum by proactively managing actions and help resolve blockers, escalating where appropriate.
- Take accountability for maintaining own delivery momentum and ensuring commitments are metthrough effective planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
- Analyse complex operational, delivery and strategic data to identify trends, risks, opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Synthesize information from multiple sources to develop meaningful insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
- Apply independent judgement when evaluating competing priorities, ambiguous requirements and delivery options.
- Produce high-quality analysis, briefing papers and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Monitor delivery performance and business indicators to assess progress against strategic objectives.
- Use data-driven insights to challenge assumptions and influence discussions and decisions.
- Planning & Tracking
- Own and maintain delivery plans, schedules, and trackers for assigned activities, ensuring they reflect current priorities and dependencies.
- Evaluation delivery performance against milestones, and strategic objectives, proactively identifying emerging variances, risks, and delivery gaps.
- Provide insightful reporting and performance analysis, highlighting trends, implications and recommended actions to support decision-making.
- Stakeholder Management
- Work with Delivery Lead, Uninsured Driving Prevention team and wider stakeholders to identify opportunities to support broader business activities with data insight and analysis.
- Prepare updates, packs, and materials to support delivery activities.
- Influence stakeholders through evidence-based recommendations and clear communication of complex information.
- Facilitate/support meetings and governance forums with agendas, notes, and follow-ups.
- Act as a trusted delivery partner, providing challenge, insight and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Dependency & Alignment
- Identify, assess, and track key dependencies and follow up to ensure alignment across teams.
- Actively connect teams to keep delivery moving smoothly. Use judgement to balance competing organisational priorities and optimise delivery outcomes.
- Ensure timely follow-up and closure of actions across stakeholders.
- Risk, Issue & Problem Solving
- Maintain risk, issue, and action logs for assigned work and the Data Strategy team,
- Proactively identify, assess and manage complex risks, issues and delivery challenges that may impact strategic objectives.
- Take initiative to resolve straightforward delivery challenges.
- Suggest improvements to delivery processes, tools, and ways of working.
- Apply independent judgement to balance risk, urgency and business impact when determining appropriate actions.
- Lead resolution of delivery challenges within assigned areas of accountability, escalating only where appropriate.
- Development & Autonomy
- Work with increasing independence on defined areas, with guidance from Delivery Leads.
- Build delivery knowledge and capability while contributing to team outcomes.
- Take accountability for delivering owned outcomes in line with organisational best practice.
Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting delivery within a project, programme, or data environment, with ownership of defined tasks or smaller workstreams.
- Proven ability to exercise independent judgement in situations involving ambiguity, incomplete information or competing priorities.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Confident tracking activities, identifying risks or delays, and escalating where appropriate.
- Good communication skills, able to engage stakeholders and provide clear, timely updates.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to follow-through and task completion.
- Foundational understanding of data governance, data standards, and real-time / near real-time data systems.
- Experience maintaining core governance artefacts (e. g. plans, roadmaps, RAID logs) and supporting risk and issue management.
- Comfortable working within regulated environments, including exposure to legal, compliance, or procurement considerations.
- Able to work effectively across cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Comfortable operating with a significant degree of autonomy and accountability.
- Demonstrates analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to interpret complex data, draw meaningful conclusions, identify implications and make well-reasoned recommendations to support business decision-making.
