Due to an internal promotion, we have a 12 month FTC available for a Risk and Controls Specialist to join Moto Novo Finance; we're not looking for someone who simply follows the process.

We're looking for someone who asks why.

Someone who is naturally curious.

Someone who digs deeper, spots what others miss, and isn't afraid to challenge when something doesn't feel right.

Someone who genuinely cares about protecting customers, supporting the business, and making things better.

If you're the type of person who can't let a problem go unexplored, enjoys asking difficult questions, and takes pride in helping a business operate safely and effectively, we'd love to hear from you.

What will your day look like?

As a Risk & Control Specialist, you'll be a trusted partner to the business, helping us identify, assess, and manage non-financial risks while strengthening the control environment across Moto Novo Finance.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the first and second lines of defence, senior leaders and subject matter experts, providing constructive challenge, practical guidance and independent thinking.

One day you might be investigating a risk event, identifying root causes and ensuring robust actions are in place.

The next, you'll be facilitating risk workshops, presenting insights at governance forums, or challenging stakeholders on how risks and issues are being managed.

This is a role for someone who enjoys getting under the skin of issues, connecting the dots and influencing positive outcomes.

What makes someone successful in this role?

  • Have a restless curiosity and naturally ask great questions
  • Enjoy investigating issues and getting to the root cause
  • Are comfortable challenging constructively, even when it's not the popular view
  • Can confidently engage and influence senior stakeholders
  • Use your own initiative and don't wait to be told what to do
  • Care passionately about doing the right thing for customers and the business
  • Enjoy bringing people together, facilitating discussions and driving actions forward
  • Are resilient, pragmatic and comfortable navigating complex situations
  • Have strong attention to detail but never lose sight of the bigger picture
  • What you'll bring
  • Experience within Risk, Controls, Compliance or a similar governance-focused role
  • A strong Financial Services background (essential)
  • Experience working with risk frameworks, controls, governance and regulatory requirements (Consumer Duty)
  • Confidence presenting to senior leaders, committees and risk forums
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple business areas
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Motor Finance experience would be highly advantageous

What can you expect from us?

  • Hybrid working policy (2 days onsite in Cardiff and 3 days at home)
  • Competitive salary and a great range of core benefits including annual bonus, 10% employer contribution pension, private medical with BUPA and 38 days holiday (inc. bank holidays)
  • A friendly and flexible culture, the same as how we work with our customers
  • A growing organisation that means there's lots of opportunities to progress
  • A drive for continuous improvement, which you will be empowered to get behind from day one

Still curious?

Join us and we'll make the same promises to you as a colleague, as we do to each of our customers.

We're committed to building a working environment that values respect, diversity, and compassion.

We welcome people regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you're pregnant or on family leave.

Please note: we have a thorough screening and referencing process, which includes financial and criminal record checks.
