Motor is at a pivotal point in its growth, and data sits at the centre of every commercial, risk and strategic decision we make. We are hiring a Head of Data & MI to build and own the engine room for Motor - creating a single source of truth, establishing strong governance, and turning data into insight our leadership team can truly rely on. This role has real scope and authority. You will shape and deliver the Data & MI strategy end‑to‑end, work directly with the Motor SLT, MD and wider Group stakeholders, and lead a growing team while staying close enough to the detail to set the technical standard.
If you are an experienced, hands‑on data leader who wants high visibility and influence, genuine ownership and impact, this is a rare opportunity to build something properly and make it count.
As Head of Data & MI you will have end‑to‑end accountability for Data & MI across Motor Finance, shaping how data is used to drive commercial performance, manage risk and meet regulatory expectations. Your priorities will be:
- Create a robust, trusted data foundation for Motor
- Establish a single source of truth with strong governance
- Deliver high‑quality, insightful MI that informs senior decision‑making
- Build and lead a capable team with strong technical credibility
What success looks like:
- Motor has a clear, well‑executed Data & MI strategy that senior leaders trust and actively use to make decisions
- A single source of truth is embedded, underpinned by strong governance and controls
- MI is accurate, timely and insight‑led, clearly articulating portfolio performance, risk and opportunity
- SAS‑based MI and analysis are robust, automated and scalable, with high technical standards consistently
- Data insight is directly shaping pricing, underwriting, portfolio performance and strategic direction
- The Data & MI team is high‑performing and developing, with strengthened SAS capability and confident graduates
This role requires a proven, senior Data & MI leader with experience operating at scale. You will bring:
- Significant experience leading Data & MI in a financial services environment
- Deep, hands‑on SAS expertise - this is critical
- Strong understanding of lending fundamentals and portfolio performance metrics
- Proven experience owning data governance, controls and MI end‑to‑end
- The confidence and credibility to work directly with MDs, SLT and Group‑level stakeholders
- A leadership style that combines high standards, accountability and development of others
Sector background: Motor finance experience is not required. What matters is strong financial services experience, technical credibility and the ability to build robust data foundations.
