Are you a credit professional who enjoys balancing commercial opportunity with sound risk management? Do you thrive on analysing financial information, building trusted relationships and making lending decisions that support business growth?
At MotoNovo Finance, we're looking for a Wholesale Credit Underwriter to join our growing Dealer Funding team and play a key role in supporting our wholesale lending portfolio.
This is more than an underwriting role. You'll partner closely with colleagues across Distribution, Operations and Risk, helping to assess new lending opportunities, manage existing dealer relationships and monitor portfolio performance. You'll have real influence over credit decisions, contribute to a strong risk culture and help us grow responsibly in a competitive market.
What You'll Be Doing
- Assessing new and existing dealer funding applications and making balanced, evidence-based lending recommendations.
- Analysing financial statements, trading performance, security and wider market information to support credit decisions.
- Completing annual credit reviews and identifying changes in dealer risk profiles.
- Monitoring existing facilities, highlighting emerging risks and supporting appropriate mitigation activity.
- Working closely with Distribution colleagues to support new business opportunities and renewal activity.
- Producing portfolio insight and management information, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Maintaining accurate credit documentation and ensuring decisions are clearly evidenced and compliant with policy requirements.
- Supporting the management of higher-risk facilities and contributing to a strong risk and control environment.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone who combines strong analytical skills with sound judgement and a collaborative approach to stakeholder management. You'll bring:
- Experience within credit underwriting, credit analysis, wholesale lending, dealer funding or a related commercial finance environment.
- A good understanding of credit risk principles and lending within a defined risk appetite.
- Experience analysing financial statements and using data to support balanced lending decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships across multiple stakeholders.
- Excellent organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience within motor finance, dealer funding or wholesale lending would be highly advantageous.
The Type Of Person Who Succeeds Here
- Analytical and naturally curious.
- Commercially minded with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborative and relationship-focused.
- Confident making recommendations and constructively challenging where required.
- Resilient, organised and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Passionate about continuous learning and developing technical expertise.
What You Can Expect From Us
- Hybrid working policy (2 days onsite in Cardiff)
- Competitive salary and a great range of core benefits including annual bonus, up to 10% employer contribution pension, private medical with BUPA and 38 days holiday (including bank holidays)
- The opportunity to develop specialist expertise within Dealer Funding and wholesale motor finance.
- Exposure to senior stakeholders and meaningful involvement in lending decisions that impact portfolio performance.
- A collaborative culture where your ideas, development and career progression are genuinely supported.
