As a family run business, we are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team in maintaining and repairing vehicles on a self employed contract.

We focus our relationship with our employees and customers like family, building a comfortable and confident environment within our workplace to ensure that we go that extra mile, giving customers peace of mind and providing a honest and trustworthy service.

The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, significant attention to detail and be proficient and confident in using power tools and hand tools.

The specific candidate will be a vital member of our team, working alongside our reception team and experienced MOT tester.

We value our team members, with a dedication to their own mental health and well being, ensuring their time at our workshop is positive and motivated, ensuring a life / work balance.

The appropriate candidate will be required to complete the following duties:

Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs to a high standard, servicing and part replacement.

To conduct regular vehicle maintenance to customers vehicle and business vehicles.

Diagnose specific faults on a vehicle, determining where the fault is and rectifying this with the correct method, in a safe, timely and appropriate manner.

To service vehicles, change oil filters, carry out routine vehicle examinations using our high standard hand held diagnostic equipment.

To inspect vehicle engines, mechanical / electrical components having the experience, awareness and knowledge to complete this efficiently.

To have a motivated and positive mind set, where active listening is used, being motivated in the work environment and positive time management is adhered to.

To have an awareness of the duration of vehicle repairs, reviewing their task list daily giving a specific time frame to the customer, and reception team prioritising their own work load and managing their diary alongside reception.

To have the knowledge and understanding of regular workshop maintenance, auditing the workshop and ensuring the correct amount of parts and vehicle items is required.

To have a driving license, access to their own vehicle and ability to act quickly when emergency vehicle repairs escalate at the road side, ensuring the safety of yourself and the customer.

To attend regular training courses, to ensure the right candidate progresses their own development and growth.

  • Proven experience as a Mechanic or similar role, minimum one years experience of working within a mechanical environment / workshop.

  • Valued mechanical knowledge within MOT vehicle testing, to support with vehicle repairs failed on MOT tests.

  • Proficiency with power tools and hand tools

  • Relevant qualifications or certifications are required (Discuss further in expression of interest)

  • To attend regular training courses to continue with career progression, adhering the current government guidelines.

We require the ideal candidate to be confident in their work, have positive communication with employees and customers ensuring they go the extra mile, giving customers a honest and respectful customer experience., * garage workshop: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Driving Licence (preferred)

The ideal candidate would be interviewed, and start date as soon as possible, with wage negotiation dependant on experience.
