About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineering Lead to lead a high-performing squad at the heart of a cross‑functional product team. This is not just a delivery role as you will partner deeply with Product, shaping what we build and why, and ensuring engineering efforts translate into clear business and customer outcomes. You’ll combine technical leadership, people management, and product thinking, while also playing a key role in driving adoption of AI‑powered workflows to improve how we build, ship and scale software at Titanbay.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Driving business impact through engineering: Translate product strategy into clear technical direction and measurable outcomes. Focus the team on delivering customer and commercial impact, not just output. Bring a strong point of view on trade‑offs, prioritisation and value.
- Deep partnership with Product & Design: Work as a true partner to Product Managers and Designers — shaping roadmap, not just executing it. Contribute technical insight early to influence scope, feasibility and approach. Ensure tight feedback loops between engineering, product and users.
- Technical leadership: Own and evolve the technical direction of your squad, balancing speed, quality and scalability. Lead on architecture and system design decisions. Stay close enough to the code to guide, unblock and raise the bar.
- People leadership & team development: Lead, mentor and develop a small squad of engineers. Build a high‑performance, accountable and collaborative team culture. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and support career growth.
- Driving AI adoption in engineering workflows: Champion the use of AI tools and workflows across the development lifecycle. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, code quality and delivery speed through AI. Help establish best practices for how AI is used effectively within the team.
- Execution & delivery excellence: Own end‑to‑end delivery for your squad — from discovery through to production. Continuously improve ways of working, tooling and engineering practices. Ensure high standards through code reviews, testing and strong engineering fundamentals.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience leading and developing engineers within a cross‑functional product team.
- Strong track record of partnering with Product to deliver meaningful business outcomes.
- Solid technical background with experience in system design and modern full‑stack development (Our stack includes Vue.js, TypeScript and the team recently built our first Go service — you don’t need all of these to apply).
- Experience with cloud platforms (we use GCP).
- A pragmatic approach to engineering trade‑offs — knowing when to optimise and when to move fast.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across disciplines.
- Interest in leveraging AI to improve engineering workflows and team effectiveness.
- Hands‑on mindset — comfortable getting into the code when needed.
Benefits:
- 28 days holiday p/a + Bank holidays - with the option to roll up to 5 days p/a.
- Employee Share Options.
- Private Health insurance.
- Private Dental cover.
- Life Insurance, 3x salary.
- ClassPass Health and Wellness membership.
- Juno Flexi benefit allowance.
- EAP support.
- Company pension.
- ParentPromise Digital new parent support plus salary sacrifice options for cycle2work, workplace nursery, home & tech.
