We’re working with a scaling transport provider and looking for a hands-on Head of Private Hire to own and scale the Private Hire (Charter) transport offering across the UK. This is a player–coach role: you’ll lead a small, high-performing sales team while also carrying your own quota and closing complex, high-value deals. You’ll be building a book of business focused on large corporates, major events, seasonal demand, and bespoke transport requirements.

What You’ll Do

  • Own, manage, and grow the Private Hire (Charter) business unit across the UK, carrying a personal sales target alongside responsibility for overall team performance.
  • Act as a player–coach, leading, supporting, and developing a team of 2 Charter Sales Executives while remaining deeply involved in deal-closing.
  • Prospect, qualify, and close Private Hire / Charter opportunities across large events, seasonal peak demand, and ad-hoc customer transport needs.
  • Build and expand a high-value client portfolio, with a focus on large corporates, enterprise accounts, and major event organisers.
  • Increase share of wallet within existing customers by complementing core commuter transport services with Private Hire solutions.
  • Partner closely with Marketing to drive pipeline via targeted campaigns, outbound activity, and market insights.
  • Own and embed sales systems and processes for the Private Hire vertical, including supporting CRM improvements, deal hygiene, and reporting standards.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline management, forecasting, and performance tracking within HubSpot.
  • Ensure smooth handover of won business to Operations, supporting reliable delivery and excellent customer outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience in B2B sales, ideally within services, logistics, transport, events, or another operationally complex environment.
  • Direct experience selling Private Hire / Charter transport, events transport, mobility, or logistics solutions.
  • Proven ability to carry and close an individual sales target, ideally involving high-value or multi-stakeholder deals.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others with a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up approach.
  • Comfortable responding to RFPs, tenders, and structured customer proposals.
  • Strong commercial judgement, with confidence around pricing, margins, and deal structures.
  • Experience implementing, improving, or operating within CRM systems and sales processes (HubSpot experience is a plus).
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-growing, evolving organisation, where structure is built alongside growth.

Before the interview, brush up on your sales metrics and achievements. Be ready to discuss how you've met or exceeded targets in previous roles, especially in B2B sales or private hire transport. This will show that you understand the importance of performance and can back it up with data.

Showcase Your Leadership Style

Understand the Market

Research the private hire and charter transport market thoroughly. Familiarise yourself with current trends, major players, and potential challenges. This knowledge will help you demonstrate your commercial judgement and ability to identify opportunities for growth during the interview.

Prepare for Scenario Questions

Expect questions that ask how you'd handle specific sales scenarios, such as responding to RFPs or managing complex deals. Prepare structured responses using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to clearly articulate your thought process and problem-solving skills.
