We're working with a growing UK connectivity provider - multiple brands supporting thousands of businesses and a genuinely interesting technical problem space. The software team is small, capable, and autonomous. We own a broad scope: provisioning systems, customer self-service, network integrations, and an increasingly AI-assisted way of working. Some of our problems are the kind you won't find at a typical SaaS business.

What you'll work on:

  • Backend services, platform automation, systems integration, and agentic tooling - built on a TypeScript / PHP stack with Postgres, running cloud-native and containerised.

What we're looking for:

  • A strong fullstack engineer who spots what needs doing and gets on with it.
  • You're comfortable taking things from design through to production.
  • You know your way around Kubernetes and CI/CD.
  • You're genuinely fluent with AI-assisted coding tools.
  • Telecoms or ISP exposure is a bonus, not a requirement.

What's on offer:

  • Real ownership, broad scope, and influence over how the team builds - not just a backlog ticket queue.

If you want to work on hard infrastructure problems with a team that moves fast and does the right thing, we'd love to hear from you.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Telecoms, ISP or networking exposure: RADIUS, BNG, CGNAT, IPv6, captive portals, VoIP/SIP is advantageous.
  • Awareness of OSS/BSS systems.
  • Linux and sysadmin experience.
  • Networking automation (MikroTik, Unifi) or infrastructure-as-code.

How to prepare for a job interview at Motive Group

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Motive Group uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
