We are on the hunt for a Technical Exhibition Stand Designer to be part of our team that turns concept exhibition stand designs into real life exhibition stands. With every exhibition stand design having its own unique look and feel, every project brings new challenges to work on. We are a team that loves coming up with solutions and new ideas for how to build things. If you are curious about how things go together, have a passion for building things, have an unhealthy obsession with Lego or can visualise how to build anything, this could be the role for you.
Who are Motive Exhibitions? Motive Exhibitions is an energetic, lively and totally amazing exhibition stand-building business based in St Neots, Cambridgeshire. Founded at the start of 2020 and still growing rapidly! We are very much a close-knit team, we love what we do and how we do it - people are super important to our business, and in this role, you will become a key member of the team. From day one, you will have a very clear vision of what we are, where we will go, and where we will be in the next few years - you will also see your opportunities to progress within the business in the future.
What will you do as a Technical Exhibition Stand Designer?
- Transform concept visuals into technical plans to build real life exhibition stands, by sitting between the creative and production teams.
- Create 3D and 2D working drawings and instructions, including specifying materials and graphics required for the exhibition stand.
- Create instructional drawings and plans for the warehouse and installation teams to prepare for building the stand.
Key responsibilities:
- Take exhibition stand designs and renders, and interpret how they can be built or manufactured from modular or custom-built parts.
- Create artwork templates to send to customers based on their stand design for graphic designers to create print-ready artwork from.
- Produce 3D plans alongside cut files for the production team to use in manufacturing or cutting of materials, including specifying materials, finishes and elements required.
- Produce instructional build plans for the install team to work from when building the stand at the event.
- Create accurate parts and picking lists to accompany the build plans for the warehouse to use when loading the stand.
- Work alongside the project manager to ensure timelines and budgets are kept on track.
- Specify services and provide technical plans to the project manager for required stand services to support the design and build (e.g. electrics, rigging requirements).
Skills and personal qualities:
- A high level of attention to detail is a must.
- Must be a good problem solver.
- Experience in 3D CAD software, having experience in SketchUp and Layout would be beneficial as this is the software we currently use.
- Knowledge of the Adobe Suite would be beneficial, but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Experience in exhibition stand design and working in the events industry.
- Experience with BeMatrix would be beneficial, but not essential, as training will be provided.
- Passion and enthusiasm for working out how things are built and how they go together.
- Knowledge of materials and systems used in the exhibition industry.
- Good technical knowledge of wood and/or metal working would be preferred.
- Be able to manage working on multiple projects at the same time.
- Friendly and personable when dealing with all internal and external customers and team.
- Attention to timelines and ability to forward plan.
- Be energetic, lively, professional and pleasant to work with.
- Driver's Licence Required.
