You are first a great engineer in the automotive and vehicle systems domain with a great history of creative problem solving. As a Vehicle Coverage Engineer, you will evolve the telematics feature offerings by expanding the breadth and depth of telemetry data acquired across diverse on- and off-highway vehicle architectures. You will review OEM documentation on telematics data offerings, work with a cross platform team to develop new features, and provide critical insights to our customers through vehicle data. A successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of vehicle networks, how to obtain vehicle telematics data parameters, and understand how data can be interpreted.
Drive universal vehicle coverage by connecting to vehicle networks, capturing and analyzing logs, and documenting findings. Utilize live vehicle debugging, data scraping, and reverse engineering techniques to identify and capture critical data from our customer’s vehicles.
What You’ll Do
- Research telematics data signals, proprietary OEM data and infield logs to provide understanding of vehicle network traffic
- Analyze wiring diagrams, body builder guides, and other documentation for vehicle connections
- Travel to customer locations and interface with various vehicles
- Utilize tools and scripts to pull data you need
- Work with international, cross-functional teams
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of vehicle automotive experience analyzing vehicle network traffic
- BS or higher in electrical, software or automotive related engineering
- Hands on experience interfacing with vehicles
- Code in C/C++/python or equivalent
- Ability to use physical debug tools like multimeters, oscilloscopes, scan tools
- Familiarity with common reverse engineering tools and hardware (Vehicle Spy, PCAN, SavvyCAN, etc.) a plus.
- Working understanding of automotive standards including SAE J1979, J1939, ISO15765, WWH-OBDII, OBDII, UDS, J1708, J1587
