MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE: To carry out the safe and efficient removal, refit, and replacement of mechanical, electrical, and trim components on damaged vehicles in line with repair methods, manufacturer guidance, and company quality standards. The MET Technician is responsible for ensuring vehicles are dismantled and reassembled correctly to support the repair process, while identifying any additional damage, maintaining high technical standards, and ensuring all repairs are completed safely, accurately, and within agreed timescales. All work must be completed in accordance with the repair estimate, current repair methods, health and safety requirements, and company procedures. Any deviation from the estimate, repair method, or parts requirement must be reported immediately to the relevant manager or estimator.
QUALIFIED/ NON-QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN EXPECTATIONS
- Qualified MET Technician: A qualified MET Technician is expected to complete work independently to the required technical, safety, and quality standards. This may also include supporting, guiding, and, where appropriate, supervising less experienced or non-qualified technicians.
- Non-Qualified MET Technician: A non-qualified or trainee MET Technician will carry out duties appropriate to their level of skill, training, and experience, under the direction and supervision of a qualified technician or manager.
