Motionspot is a RIBA award-winning accessibility and inclusive design consultancy, shaping some of the most impactful and ambitious built environment projects across the UK and internationally. Our work spans commercial workplaces, transport, hospitality, leisure, retail, residential and masterplanning, helping clients move beyond compliance to create places that are truly accessible and inclusive for everyone. We combine deep technical expertise in accessibility with a design-led approach, grounded in engagement with people with lived experience. Working closely with architects, developers and operators, we help deliver environments that are safe, equitable and welcoming for disabled people and others with a wide range of protected characteristics. As awareness grows around neurodiversity, ageing, equity and human-centred design, we are helping clients rethink how environments support people’s experiences, independence and wellbeing.
We are looking for an experienced built environment professional who is passionate about creating places that work better for everyone and can lead the delivery of high-profile projects across the UK and internationally. You may currently work in architecture, workplace strategy, urban design, interior design, accessibility consultancy or another related field — but you share our belief that inclusive design should shape great places, not simply satisfy minimum standards. This is an opportunity to help influence some of the UK’s most ambitious projects, working alongside leading developers, architects and organisations to create environments that are more equitable, welcoming and future-focused.
This role combines specialist accessibility and inclusive design expertise with strategic advisory support, helping clients, architects and project teams create more accessible and inclusive built environments. Working across projects from early concept through to post-occupancy, you’ll provide technical guidance, design reviews and practical recommendations that help shape better project outcomes, influence decision-making and support best practice in inclusive design. You’ll play an important role in helping clients move beyond minimum compliance requirements towards more thoughtful, equitable and user-centred environments.
- Lead accessibility and inclusive design audits, appraisals and design reviews across a range of sectors
- Provide clear, practical recommendations that balance compliance, best practice and design quality
- Produce high-quality reports, access strategies, risk registers and planning documentation
- Advise clients and design teams across all RIBA stages.
Project & Client Leadership:
- Lead meetings with clients and key stakeholders, presenting reports and recommendations with clarity and confidence
- Build strong, trusted relationships with clients and project teams
- Support delivery across multiple projects
- Ensure projects are delivered to agreed timelines and meet client requirements.
Contribution to Practice:
- Mentor and support junior team members
- Contribute to thought leadership, CPDs and industry engagement
- Support business development and help grow client relationships.
A senior built environment professional passionate about designing places that are equitable, inclusive and people-centred. Comfortable influencing clients, design teams and stakeholders and working across multiple projects. A strong communicator who enjoys both strategic conversations and practical problem-solving. Motivated by meaningful work and positive social impact.
Core Experience:
- Experience of leading complex projects through all RIBA design stages and managing different stakeholders
- Ability to translate technical requirements into clear, practical design guidance
- Experience of implementing inclusive design interventions on projects to deliver more accessible and equitable spaces for all
- Strong understanding of UK accessibility legislation, standards and best practice.
Nice to have:
- Background in the built environment, including architecture, interior design, planning or a related field
- Experience across multiple sectors (e.g. workplace, transport, hospitality, residential)
- Experience delivering access audits, design reviews and advisory support
- Working towards an NRAC consultant accreditation.
What you can expect from us:
- Competitive salary and bonus scheme
- Company pension scheme
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and a 3-day office closure in December
- Health and well-being support via Health Assured
- Access to our Cycle Scheme and free eye care vouchers
- A collaborative and supportive team environment
- An accessible studio workspace with subsidised cafeteria, secure bike storage and shower facilities
- Excellent career development opportunities in a growing business, including a training and development plan
- The chance to work on impactful projects that shape more inclusive environments across the UK and internationally.
