Role Purpose

To drive inventory accuracy, visibility, and optimisation across the business, supporting both Stores and Purchasing functions. The Inventory Analyst is responsible for analysing stock data, identifying discrepancies and risks, and delivering insights that improve material control, purchasing decisions, and overall supply chain performance.

Inventory Control & Data Accuracy

  • Monitor and report on inventory accuracy, discrepancies, and trends across all stock locations
  • Lead root cause analysis of stock variances and implement corrective actions
  • Maintain integrity of inventory data within ERP/MRP systems
  • Design and support cycle count programmes based on risk and usage

Stores Support

  • Work closely with Stores Team Lead, Stock Controllers, and Kitters to improve stock processes and discipline
  • Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies (cycle counts, adjustments, root cause)
  • Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory
  • Drive improvements in traceability, FIFO, and material handling practices
  • Provide regular insight into stock errors, repeat issues, and performance gaps

Purchasing Support

  • Provide accurate stock and usage data to support purchasing decisions and order planning
  • Highlight shortages, excess stock, and slow-moving inventory to drive proactive actions
  • Support optimisation of order quantities (MOQ/EOQ) and safety stock levels
  • Provide data to support supplier performance reviews (delivery, shortages, quality impact)

Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and deliver reports on stock accuracy, inventory value, shortages, and ageing
  • Generate actionable insights and recommendations for improvement
  • Support cross-functional reviews with Stores, Planning, and Purchasing

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead initiatives to improve inventory control and reduce waste
  • Standardise processes and reporting across functions
  • Promote a data-driven, right-first-time culture

Key KPIs

  • Inventory accuracy >98%
  • Reduction in stock discrepancies and repeat errors
  • Reduction in excess and obsolete stock
  • Improved material availability to production

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in inventory, supply chain, or data analysis role
  • Strong analytical capability and Excel/ERP skills
  • Understanding of stock control principles (FIFO, traceability, cycle counting)
  • Manufacturing experience desirable
