Purpose of the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Quality Technician to help us deliver consistently high-quality products within our manufacturing operation.
You will inspect incoming materials, in-process assemblies and finished products, manage non-conforming material and support investigations and continuous improvement.
Working closely with Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Quality colleagues, you will help ensure our products meet customer, regulatory, IPC and internal quality requirements.
- What you’ll be doing
- Carry out incoming, in-process and final inspections on PCB assemblies, metal assemblies and finished products.
- Complete visual, dimensional and functional inspections against drawings, specifications, control plans and work instructions.
- Identify and control non-conforming material, including segregation, labelling and status control.
- Raise and maintain non-conformance reports, defect records and quality alerts.
- Support failure analysis and root cause investigations using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone and 8D.
- Help verify that corrective and preventive actions have been implemented and are effective.
- Support process, product and layered process audits.
- Monitor and report quality measures, including defect trends, scrap, rework and first-pass yield.
- Help ensure measuring and test equipment remains within calibration.
- Work collaboratively across Production, Engineering, Supply Chain and Supplier Quality to resolve issues and maintain standards.
- What we’re looking for
- Experience in a manufacturing, quality inspection or production environment.
- Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and inspection criteria.
- Practical experience of visual, dimensional and functional inspection.
- Knowledge of non-conformance control, containment and defect reporting.
- A good understanding of problem-solving tools such as 5 Why and Fishbone analysis.
- An NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent practical experience in engineering, manufacturing or quality.
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001 or ISO 9001 would be an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, sound judgement and clear communication skills.
