The main focus of the role is managing language-related projects – not just translation and transcreation, but potentially content creation, voiceovers, subtitling, production and others. This entails quoting for work, selecting appropriate suppliers and processes, briefing suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, and dealing with any queries along the way. You will need to build and maintain strong relationships both with clients and suppliers around the world. You will look for opportunities to improve internal processes and ways of working, and to grow the client accounts you work on. In addition, you may at times review and edit translations produced by our writers in your native language, and assist in recruiting and testing potential new writers.

At Mother Tongue, we want to be defined by our positivity, rigour, resourcefulness and passion for language. The ideal applicant will possess these qualities, as well as the following:

  • Necessary
  • University degree in languages or a related subject.
  • Fluency in English and at least one other language.
  • Great communication skills (by phone/VC and in writing).
  • Ability to work independently where necessary, and collaborate effectively with others.
  • Familiarity with modern office software.
  • Experience of managing localisation projects in the pharmaceutical/medical/life sciences sector.
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Desirable
    • Experience with CAT tools/TMS systems.
    • Strong editing skills in your native language.
    • An interest in technology, and an informed perspective on the future direction of the industry.

At Mother Tongue we recognise the importance of having a team that reflects our community, and are fully committed to embracing and maximising the talents of our people. It is important to us that our people encompass all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We believe that Inclusion makes for a more stimulating and inspiring working environment, where people are treated with respect and can be comfortable being themselves. Embracing these different approaches and thinking helps deliver tangible and positive results for our clients’ businesses.

The role is based in our office in Bankside, London SE1, which is fully mobility accessible, with gender-neutral bathrooms. You should expect to spend 3 days every week in the office, with the possibility for home working the remainder of the week.

The right candidate can expect a fun, friendly working environment and a remuneration package depending on experience. We also offer the following benefits:

    • Company pension scheme
    • Private medical insurance
    • Medical cash plan
    • Meal subsidy on days when you work in the office
    • Volunteering days to give back to the community
