Security Analyst Placement Programme in Newport, Wales

Ready to start your career in cyber security and discover where it could take you? There's a lot more to cyber security than one role. Over 12 months, you'll get to experience different roles across our Security team and discover the areas that interest you most. You'll work alongside experienced security professionals, build new skills and see different types of security work in action. This is your opportunity to explore, learn and start discovering the career path that could be right for you.

Here are some of the areas you could work in:

• Application Security: Learn how we build security into applications, including vulnerability management, penetration testing, threat modelling and security reviews.
• Cloud Security: Gain experience of how we protect cloud environments, identify security weaknesses and help teams apply appropriate security controls.
• Identity & Access Management: Learn how we manage identities and access to systems, including access reviews, privileged access and the principles of giving people the right access at the right time.
• Security Operations: See how we identify, investigate and respond to security threats and incidents, working alongside our Security Operations team and security partners.
• IT Continuity: Learn how we prepare for major technology incidents, including business continuity, disaster recovery and exercises that test how effectively we can recover.
• Vulnerability Management: Help identify and track security vulnerabilities, understand the risks they present and work with teams as they are addressed.
• Threat Modelling & Security Testing: Support security specialists in understanding what could go wrong with new systems and services and how those risks can be reduced.
• Risk & Governance: Learn how security risks are identified, recorded and communicated, and how policies and standards help us manage security consistently.
• Projects & Improvement: Contribute to security projects and improvement activities, bringing your own ideas and learning how security changes are delivered in a large organisation.

Our 12-month placement programme is built on three key pillars:

• Personal Development: Build your confidence and skills through mentoring, learning sessions and events - all designed to support your growth and goals.
• The Project: Work with other students to lead a project that creates real, positive impact.

We're looking for someone who's curious about cyber security, enjoys solving problems and, above all, wants to learn. You do not need to arrive knowing everything. This placement gives you the opportunity to build your knowledge, develop new skills and gain practical experience alongside our Security teams.

We are looking for:

• Curious: You're interested in how technology works, what can go wrong and how organisations can protect themselves.
• Eager to learn: You want to build your cyber security knowledge and enjoy working through problems and analysing information.
• Collaborative: You enjoy working with people from technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Minimum criteria: Studying in the second year of your cyber or technical degree that includes a year in industry, and eager to start a placement in July 2027. Excited to join us in our Bristol office at least three days a week, with occasional travel to London.

Recruitment Stages:

• Application Stage - Submit your CV and response to four questions.
• Video Assessment - One way video assessment - You will answer 5 questions by video response.
• Virtual Interview - You will meet with one of our Early Careers Recruitment team.
• Assessment Centre - You will be invited to attend a final stage assessment centre.

If you are successful at the Assessment Centre stage, you will be offered the role to begin Monday 5th July 2027.
