Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, the Mechanical Manager will be a key member of the wider site-based team, with overall responsibility for leading and managing mechanical service delivery across the site. The role encompasses a broad range of mechanical disciplines, including:

  • Ventilation systems (including Local Exhaust Ventilation)
  • Fire dampers and motorised fire and smoke dampers
  • Air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Water systems
  • Medium and Low Temperature Hot Water (MTHW/LTHW) boiler systems
  • Generator services
  • All associated mechanical plant and equipment

Working closely with Supervisors, Engineers, and Service Partners, the Mechanical Manager will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical plant and systems across the operational estate. The role carries full accountability for ensuring that both plant and personnel operate in line with company policies, contractual requirements, and local operating procedures, delivering a consistent and standardised service.

Key Responsibilities

Service Delivery & Performance

  • Take full ownership of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities, ensuring completion within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and relevant asset standards.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for all reactive and associated works, ensuring timely and compliant delivery in line with SLAs, KPIs, and applicable standards.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Hold overall accountability for the health and safety of Supervisors, Engineering teams, and Service Partners.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks and provide regular safety briefings and updates.
  • Ensure full compliance with all statutory requirements, safe systems of work, and the safe operation of plant and equipment, including adherence to Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and Quality Assurance requirements.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for operational escalations.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote a collaborative and coordinated approach between the Helpdesk, Supervisors, and Engineering teams.

Technical & Asset Management

  • Provide technical advice and specialist support to the Project Team for all assets within the Mechanical Manager’s remit.
  • Regularly review, update, and advise on asset lifecycle requirements, ensuring plant performance, reliability, and compliance are maintained.
