We are looking for an experienced Regional Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead maintenance service delivery across a large-scale retail estate. This is a dynamic, hands-on role responsible for ensuring both reactive and planned maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with KPIs and service standards. You’ll manage a team of engineers and specialist subcontractors, while maintaining a strong on-site presence for critical issues and providing effective remote coordination across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance operations across a multi-site retail portfolio spanning South Wales to West London
- Lead and support a team of multi-skilled engineers, alongside a network of subcontractors
- Manage reactive maintenance, including escalations and critical on-site incidents (e.g. HVAC failures, faults, plant issues)
- Ensure the successful delivery of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Take ownership of KPI and SLA performance, driving service excellence
- Attend sites as required, particularly for high-priority or complex issues
- Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure quality, compliance, and value
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and provide regular performance updates
- Ensure all work is delivered in line with health & safety regulations and company standards
About You
- Proven experience in a regional or multi-site maintenance/service management role within retail or FM environments
- Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, with a good understanding of maintenance
- Experience managing both direct engineering teams and subcontractors
- Track record of delivering both reactive and planned maintenance services
- Strong understanding of KPI/SLA management and continuous improvement
- Ability to manage a geographically dispersed workforce
- Hands-on approach with a willingness to attend sites when required
- Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills
- Experience within large-scale retail environments
- Knowledge of compliance and statutory maintenance requirements
