Overview

We are partnering with a leading facilities management provider to recruit a Commercial Assistant for their Complex Facilities Team. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) based in Barnsley, with hybrid working available. We're looking for someone with some experience in a commercial role, ideally within a PFI (Private Finance Initiative) environment. The successful candidate will provide key support in the commercial delivery of a large Schools PFI contract.

The Role

  • Setting up and maintaining subcontractor and supplier contracts
  • Reviewing and processing applications for payment
  • Supporting monthly reporting cycles and maintaining financial records
  • Keeping commercial admin tasks up to date and well-organised
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly valuations and cost reports
  • Attending and taking notes during monthly commercial meetings
  • Supporting the wider commercial and operational teams with documentation and data input
  • Ensuring all activity aligns with company processes and contractual obligations

What We're Looking For

  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience in a commercial assistant or administrator role, preferably within a PFI and facilities management environment
  • Good understanding of commercial processes and contract administration
  • Confident reviewing payment applications and raising queries where needed
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, team-focused approach
