At MSV Housing we’re committed to making sure our customers have good quality safe homes and our Roofer’s Mate’s are key to making this happen.

The role supports Roofers in delivering high-quality roofing repairs, maintenance, and small works across the Group’s housing stock. It provides essential labouring assistance, including safe access setup, material handling, basic roofing tasks, and general operational support to ensure efficient, safe, and customer-focused service delivery.

In addition, we are looking for candidates that have a passion to advocate on behalf of people and communities.

What will our Roofer's Mate's do:

  • Assist Roofers with daily roofing tasks, including basic repairs, preparing work areas, and supporting safe working at height.
  • Handle materials and equipment, loading, carrying, organising supplies, and keeping vehicles, stores, and sites clean and tidy.
  • Set up and dismantle access equipment such as ladders and towers, following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Support minor repairs and supervised tasks, including gutters, downpipes, roofline components, and use of tools under guidance.
  • Maintain professional conduct, recording work when required, communicating politely with customers, safeguarding materials, and supporting teamwork, training, and apprentices.

What we are looking for:

  • City and Guilds Craft or minimum NVQ level 2 in an appropriate craft-based trade or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidiscipline team.
  • Managing and prioritising a demanding workload.
  • Customer focused and a desire to provide services to a high standard.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a busy team environment.
  • Experience of delivering quality work on time.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the service that MSV delivers to our customers, so your effective communication skills and ability to understand with empathy the diverse needs of our customers will be key. You’ll be based in the communities we serve and will work under minimum supervision and as part of a team using a flexible approach.

We’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. As this job is based within our property care team where you’ll be entering the homes of our customers, a basic criminal records background check (free of charge to you) is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily stop you from working with us. All decisions regarding convictions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy’s candidate pack.

We offer a range of great benefits including:

  • Company vehicle.
  • 33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday buy scheme.
  • Company pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions.
  • Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
  • Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay.
  • Health and Wellbeing Support including an employee assistance programme, free counselling, mental health first aiders and numerous wellbeing initiatives.
  • Life assurance subject to being a member of our company pension scheme.
  • Learning and development to support you to develop the skills you need to fulfil your role and progress in your career.
  • Commitment to Equality and Inclusion with employee network groups covering anti-racism, LGBTQ+, disability and long-term health conditions, carers, and menopause.

MSV are committed to Equality and Inclusion; all applications are scored against the essential criteria of the role; however, we encourage candidates to submit an ammonised CV if they can do so.

MSV are also committed to supporting you to balance work and life, including with any caring or parental responsibilities you might have, and have a range of flexible working options and wellbeing support available to all colleagues to facilitate this.
