At MSV Housing, we are committed to making sure our customers have good quality safe homes, and our Roofers are key to making this happen. We are looking to recruit an experienced individual to join our established team. Our Roofers are responsible for delivering high-quality roofing repairs, maintenance, and small-scale renewal works across the Group's housing stock and commercial assets. This role ensures all roofing activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard, supporting the delivery of a reliable and customer-focused property maintenance service. In addition, we are looking for candidates that have a passion to advocate on behalf of people and communities.

What will our Roofers do:

  • Carry out roofing repairs across slate, tile and flat-roof systems, including ridge tiles, leadwork, chimneys and roofline components.
  • Inspect, diagnose and resolve roofing defects, leaks, guttering issues and associated building problems.
  • Install, replace and maintain roofing materials, rainwater goods, uPVC roofline, battens, underlays and minor re-roofing works.
  • Ensure safe working practices, including correct use of access equipment, fall-prevention, compliance with health & safety and asbestos procedures, and proper tool/vehicle checks.
  • Deliver excellent customer service, keeping accurate records, maintaining clean work areas, collaborating with colleagues, and supporting apprentices and out-of-hours emergency response.

What we are looking for:

  • City and Guilds Craft or minimum NVQ level 2 in an appropriate craft-based trade or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidiscipline team.
  • Managing and prioritising a demanding workload.
  • Customer focused and a desire to provide services to a high standard.
  • Experience of working collaboratively in a busy team environment.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the service that MSV delivers to our customers, so your effective communication skills and ability to understand with empathy the diverse needs of our customers will be key. You'll be based in the communities we serve and will work under minimum supervision and as part of a team using a flexible approach.

We're committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all colleagues to share this commitment. As this job is based within our property care team where you'll be entering the homes of our customers, a basic criminal records background check (free of charge to you) is required. A criminal conviction does not necessarily stop you from working with us. All decisions regarding convictions will be made on a case-by-case basis. Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy's candidate pack.

Benefits:

  • Company vehicle.
  • 33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday buy scheme.
  • Company pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions.
  • Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
  • Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay.
  • Health and Wellbeing Support including an employee assistance programme, free counselling, mental health first aiders and numerous wellbeing initiatives.
  • Life assurance subject to being a member of our company pension scheme.
  • Learning and development to support you to develop the skills you need to fulfil your role and progress in your career.
  • Commitment to Equality and Inclusion with employee network groups covering anti-racism, LGBTQ+, disability and long-term health conditions, carers, and menopause.

Equality and Inclusion:

MSV are committed to Equality and Inclusion; all applications are scored against the essential criteria of the role; however, we encourage candidates to submit an anonymised CV if they can do so. MSV are also committed to supporting you to balance work and life, including with any caring or parental responsibilities you might have, and have a range of flexible working options and wellbeing support available to all colleagues to facilitate this. We're passionate about inclusion and we'd love to hear from people from diverse backgrounds for this role.
