At MSV Housing, we're committed to providing our customers with safe, high-quality homes, and our Multi Skilled Operatives play a vital role in achieving this. Reporting to the Repairs Team Leader, you'll deliver a wide range of repairs and maintenance services, including carpentry, minor plumbing, plastering, tiling, and painting and decorating.

We're looking for a skilled, customer-focused professional, or an enthusiastic individual with strong maintenance and repair experience, who takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You'll be a proactive team player with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of managing a varied workload independently while maintaining high standards of health and safety and customer service. A recognised trade qualification (or equivalent experience), a full UK driving licence, and confidence using digital systems are essential.

What do our Multi Skilled Operatives do:

  • Install, repair and maintain a wide range of building components and fixtures, including carpentry, doors, windows, kitchens, fencing, roofing, and associated property repairs.
  • Carry out multi-skilled maintenance works including minor plumbing, plastering, tiling, brickwork, decorating and other general repairs to domestic and commercial properties.
  • Deliver high-quality work safely, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, asbestos regulations, risk assessments and company policies.
  • Provide excellent customer service by liaising professionally with residents, completing work within agreed timescales and budgets, and ensuring properties are left clean, safe and tidy.
  • Manage materials, equipment and company vehicles responsibly, maintain accurate records, support apprentices where required, and participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • A City & Guilds Craft qualification or NVQ Level 2 in a relevant trade (or significant equivalent practical experience).
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North West.
  • Experience delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance work within agreed timescales.
  • Experience working collaboratively as part of a busy, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
  • Confidence using digital devices and systems to record work activities and manage jobs.
  • A flexible, reliable and self-motivated approach, with a commitment to safety, professionalism and MSV's values.

This is a hands-on role at the heart of the services we deliver to our customers. You'll work within the communities we serve, using your strong communication skills, customer focus, and ability to understand and respond to a wide range of customer needs with empathy. Working both independently and as part of a team, you'll take a flexible approach while operating with minimal supervision.

As this role involves entering customers' homes, a basic DBS check (at no cost to you) is required. Having a criminal conviction will not automatically prevent employment, with all disclosures considered on a case-by-case basis.

Further detail on our commitment to safeguarding young people can be found in our Safeguarding policy attached alongside this vacancy’s candidate pack.

We offer a range of great benefits including:

  • Company vehicle.
  • 33 days holiday per year plus bank holidays, and a holiday buy scheme.
  • Company pension scheme with up to 10% matched contributions.
  • Company funded access to a health cash plan, where you can claim back costs of everyday health treatments such as optical, dental and much more.
  • Enhanced sick pay with up to 3 months full pay and 3 months half pay.
  • Health and Wellbeing Support including an employee assistance programme, free counselling, mental health first aiders and numerous wellbeing initiatives.
  • Life assurance subject to being a member of our company pension scheme.
  • Learning and development to support you to develop the skills you need to fulfil your role and progress in your career.
