Mossbourne Community Academy seeks to appoint a Specialist Support Practitioner - SEMH. Mossbourne Federation is a leading education provider offering high-quality learning for students in Hackney and Thurrock. Our support staff play an important role in the educational development of our learners. The Specialist Support Practitioner will support students with a wide range of special educational needs, particularly those with challenges in social, emotional and mental health. The successful applicant will be well-organised, willing to go the “extra mile”, and dedicated to the attainment of all students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the well-being and discipline of all students in the academy.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to support students and their learning, following instructions and guidance to support the daily classroom routine.
  • Carrying out a wide variety of tasks under the direction and supervision of the teaching staff and SENCo & HOI.
  • Working within the Curriculum Support Department, collaborating with teachers and supporting the curriculum delivery.
  • Demonstrating expertise and proactivity in working with students with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Working independently and as part of a team to support and monitor the progress of pupils on the caseload.
