Purpose of the Role: As the Senior Merchandiser, your primary purpose is to strategically align merchandise planning with market trends and business objectives. Collaborating closely with the buying, marketing, retail and logistics teams you will lead the team to optimise inventory management, drive sales and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Continuously review sales, stock and profitability data to influence future decisions.
- Use the sales budgets and historical data to create range frameworks for the buying teams.
- Work collaboratively with buying to build and deliver the product range.
- Manage the critical path for product delivery and seasonal launches.
- Managing and owning department and brand WSSIs and MSSIs.
- Lead inventory management strategies including managing running lines, trading seasonal stock through full price and outlet channels and utilising markdown to maximise profitability.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and logistics to ensure flexibility, timely delivery and cost-efficiency.
- Work closely with buying and marketing teams to ensure campaigns are commercially balanced.
- Drive collaborative efforts to achieve company-wide goals.
- Mentor and lead the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and support career development.
- Identify opportunities for process enhancements within the merchandising function.
- Lead the implementation of new systems and technologies to improve efficiency and productivity.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Technical: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel.
- Minimum three years’ experience as a retail merchandiser, demonstrating strategic vision, problem solving and leadership.
- Knowledge of the current retail environment and consumer behaviour to drive product strategy.
- Understanding of supply chain dynamics, including effective supplier management and negotiation.
