The Opportunity
We are working with a well-established regional law firm seeking a Dispute Resolution / Employment Solicitor to join their busy team in Hertford. This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor or FCILEx qualified professional with at least 2 years' PQE to take ownership of a varied caseload across employment law and general litigation, in a supportive yet ambitious environment. The successful candidate will have experience advising and representing both individuals and corporate clients in a wide range of employment matters, and a solid grounding in general dispute resolution. This role offers exposure to contentious and non-contentious employment law, tribunal and court representation, and wider business litigation. This role is ideal for a motivated employment/dispute resolution solicitor looking to grow their career in a dynamic and supportive firm, with a clear path for development, exposure to a broad caseload, and a strong focus on both personal and professional wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent and advise clients in employment law matters including unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, discrimination claims, and disciplinary matters
- Draft contracts of employment, staff handbooks, policies, and settlement agreements
- Advise on employee terminations, redundancies, restructures, and boardroom disputes
- Conduct internal investigations and advise on disciplinary procedures
- Work with clients across litigation matters in both corporate and individual contexts
- Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives for the team and firm
- Manage own caseload independently while collaborating with colleagues
The Candidate
- Solicitor or FCILEx qualified with 2+ years' PQE in employment law and litigation
- Experience representing clients in tribunals and courts
- Strong drafting skills for employment contracts, policies, and agreements
- Confident, proactive, and able to manage cases independently
- Commercially aware and interested in business development
- Team player with a positive attitude, professionalism, and excellent judgement
- Clean driving licence and ability to travel to client meetings where required
