Job Title: Safety Framework Lead (Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover)Reporting to: HR Manager Location: City of London / HybridSalary: £54,000 – £55,000 per annumContract Term: Until end April 2026 Overview of the RoleThis role leads the development and management of the Safety Framework, including its systems, processes, and technical standards. The position involves working closely with the governing board and senior leadership to support the onboarding and progression of framework Champions, ensuring consistent, high-quality assessments. The postholder will also support operational improvements to enhance organisational growth, efficiency, and stability. Key Responsibilities Technical and Operational Development
- Advise on health, safety, and quality standards, particularly from a major hazard safety perspective.
- Collaborate with IT and technical teams to enhance systems and tools that support companies and assessors through the framework assessment process.
- Drive ongoing improvement of the framework’s structure and delivery.
- Manage the end-to-end assessment journey for Safety Framework Champions.
- Coordinate and support the assessor community and their assignment to participating organisations.
- Maintain and develop the Assessor Management System (online platform for administration and collaboration).
Assessment and Accreditation
- Lead the internal calibration and Confirmation Panel process, which determines Champion status.
- Develop and manage interim reviews and reassessments for Champion companies.
- Manage company credit card usage within agreed procedures and limits.
- Lead preparations for accreditation (e.g., UKAS), as required, including operational readiness.
Reporting and Documentation
- Contribute to and draft reports, metrics, and technical documents such as quarterly impact reports, board updates, service specifications, and user guidance for the assessment portal.
- Develop and grow the Learning and Excellence Hub in collaboration with team members.
Engagement and Communication
- Deliver webinars and presentations to industry stakeholders and onboarding organisations.
- Assist with promotional and marketing activities for the framework.
- Represent the organisation at sector events and relevant external forums.
Project and Strategic Support
- Manage discrete projects as required.
- Contribute to long-term organisational strategy development.
Ongoing Management Responsibilities
- Line management of the Safety Framework Team (including the Partnership & Business Development Manager and Coordinator), including performance reviews, leave/expense approvals, and regular team meetings.
- Maintain and contribute to the organisational risk register in coordination with governance leads.
- Serve as principal user and administrator of core digital platforms and external regulatory relationships, including:
- Oversight of digital accounts and systems
- Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) contact
- Liaison with relevant public bodies (e.g., Homes England)
- Representation on Early Adopters Group and competence committees
- Authorisation of payments and secondary sign-off on the bank account
- Management of Companies House filings and updates
Knowledge and Skills Required
- In-depth experience in health, safety, or quality management (preferably in a major hazard environment)
- Knowledge of industry regulations, standards, and accreditation processes
- Proficiency in IT systems and project management tools
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills
- Strong operational and strategic planning capabilities
- Analytical and interpersonal strengths
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:
- Experience in risk, health & safety, or quality management (ideally within major hazard safety environments)
- Experience developing or managing accreditation or assessment frameworks
Desirable:
- Degree in business, health & safety, quality, organisational development, or a related field
- Background in major hazard safety or the construction sector
