Mosaic Island are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to work on a Financial client on a Data / Regulatory Capital project (Basel III). You would define the solution architecture for our clients Basel III / Regulatory Capital initiative. This is a data-heavy role focused on identifying key data assets, shaping data products, and designing the data and technology architecture needed for risk calculation, capital adequacy and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end architecture for Basel III reporting within an agile squad.
- Design data models, data flows, curated datasets and data products for regulatory capital and RWA calculations.
- Identify critical data sources, define lineage, and ensure data quality, controls, and traceability.
- Work with engineering, data SMEs, risk/finance teams, and—where present—business analysts to shape backlog items and solution detail.
- Produce and maintain essential artefacts (HLDs, lineage, data dictionaries, integration designs).
- Provide architectural guidance through delivery and ensure alignment to regulatory requirements.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Strong Solution Architect with Data Architecture expertise.
- Experience in Basel II/III, Regulatory Capital, RWA or similar regulatory reporting.
- Knowledge of financial risk/finance data (exposures, collateral, PD/LGD/EAD, balance sheet).
- Skilled in designing data pipelines, models, and cloud-based data solutions (preferably Azure).
- Familiar with agile delivery and translating regulatory needs into technical design.
- Strong understanding of data lineage, governance and auditability.
Desirable
- Azure Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, Purview experience.
- Experience with risk or regulatory reporting engines.
- UK banking / PRA regulatory background.
Attributes

This is an Inside IR35 / Via Umbrella opportunity which is mainly Remote but with occasional office travel if needed to the Sunderland area.
