The Risk Manager is responsible for assisting the Risk Function in ensuring a robust risk management framework is in place that is in compliance with regulatory requirements and market best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilise risk management software for the maintenance and reporting of the risk management processes.
  • Develop, implement and refine Risk Registers that capture all risks across business functions and entities.
  • Document risk management policies and procedures and carry out reviews to ensure compliance with them.
  • Coordinate the running of the risk management processes including Risk & Control Reviews, incident reporting, Key Risk Indicator monitoring.
  • Oversee risk registers, appetites, policies, controls assessments.
  • Produce and maintain the Own Risk Solvency Assessment, both annually and quarterly.
  • Assist in monitoring against risk appetite statements and metrics.
  • Assist in developing and implementing Mosaic's risk management framework reporting processes.
  • Assist with developing and delivering risk management training materials.
  • Provide advice and support to the Deputy Chief Risk Officer and other members of the Risk and Compliance function.

General Responsibilities

  • Engage with key stakeholders across functions, which will include Underwriting Management, Outwards Reinsurance, Claims, Exposure Management and Actuarial.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including the PRA/FCA Individual Conduct Standards.
  • Undertake additional duties as may be required from time to time to ensure the efficient running of the managing agency.

Skills, Experience and Education

  • A minimum of 3/4 years of experience in a risk management position within the London market.
  • Chartered Insurance Risk Manager or similar risk management qualification preferred.
  • Solid understanding of current regulatory rules (Lloyd's, PRA, FCA, etc.).
  • Analytical with the ability to assess and interpret risks relevant to the business; quickly absorb complex business situations and use sound judgement to identify credible solutions.
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking; identifying, implementing and monitoring practical solutions to address problems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex risk and regulatory issues, and their implications succinctly.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and develop working relationships within the organisation as well as with third party providers.
  • Excellent IT skills and experience of Decision Focus preferred.
  • Confident and resilient when faced with difficult situations and willing to challenge senior management on financial, strategic and operational issues.
  • A proactive working approach with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good commercial awareness and up to date on industry trends, initiatives and emerging risks.
