Môrwell Talent Solutions is working with a new client to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on an initial 9 12 month fixed-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a good understanding of transactional finance who enjoys being hands-on, getting involved in a variety of accounting duties and supporting a busy finance function.

Working closely with the Accounts Manager and Financial Controller, you will become an integral part of a small, close-knit team of four, providing day-to-day support across the accounts function and helping to ensure that financial processes run smoothly and efficiently.

The successful candidate will ideally be available to start as soon as possible, although candidates with a shorter notice period will also be considered.

The Role

Reporting into the Accounts Manager and Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing high volumes of purchase ledger invoices using Net Suite.
  • Matching, checking and accurately entering supplier invoices onto the system.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and investigating any discrepancies.
  • Dealing with supplier queries and resolving invoice-related issues.
  • Preparing invoices for payment and supporting the payment run process.
  • Undertaking general data entry and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Chasing outstanding payments and providing copy invoices and statements when requested.
  • Providing some basic credit control support, including responding to customer and company queries.
  • Liaising with companies, predominantly dealing with requests for copy invoices and account information.
  • Providing general accounts administration and supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who has previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar transactional finance role and is comfortable working in a busy environment where accuracy and attention to detail are important.

You will ideally have

  • Previous experience working within an accounts or finance team.
  • A good understanding of purchase ledger processes and transactional accounting.
  • Experience processing invoices, reconciling supplier statements and dealing with supplier queries.
  • Good data entry skills and the ability to manage a high volume of transactions accurately.
  • Confidence using accounting systems. Experience with Net Suite would be advantageous, although training will be provided.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your workload.
  • A positive, flexible and hands‑on approach to your work.

Just as importantly, you will be down to earth, reliable and hardworking, with a willingness to muck in and support your colleagues.

This is a small team where everyone plays their part, so a helpful attitude and a genuine team‑player mentality are essential.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary of £27,000 £29,000, depending on experience.
  • An initial 9 12 month fixed-term contract.
  • 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • The opportunity to join a friendly, close-knit finance team.
  • On-the-job training and support, including training on Net Suite.
  • A Monday to Friday working week, 9.00am 5.00pm.
  • Four days office-based and one day working from home once fully trained and confident in the role.
  • On-site parking and kitchen facilities.
  • Access to a range of employee discounts, including offers on electrical goods, dining and shopping.
  • Access to a flexible benefits programme, allowing employees to purchase items such as electrical goods and bikes, with payments deducted directly from their monthly salary.
  • There may be the opportunity for the position to become permanent in the future; however, this cannot be guaranteed as the business is currently going through a period of restructuring.
